Tecumseh Report:
Kirk Z finished 98th overall (out of 604 who attempted and 593 who finished) in 4:27; I finished 87th overall in 4:23. Not as fast as I'd like, but it was the toughest run I've ever done. At about mile 18, when my legs were starting to wobble, we hit the hilliest section of the race: up and down big steep hills with lots of tight switchbacks, roots, mud, rocks, logs, stumps, holes, streams, and branches in your face. So I pretty much stumbled my way through it. Support along the way was great - good food at aid stations and the end. Kirk and I both passed all of the Cal Strider runners we saw. I can't wait to go back next year, and highly recommend this race to anyone who likes singletrack.

Steve & Kirk, great job out at Tecumseh. I agree with everything you said. Unfortunately, not one of my best performances. The cold worked its way to chill me to the bone. Like Arnold, I'll be back. If the weather holds, i was going to try to meet with you guys on Wed. Tony

Lots of water, stinky mud and steep hills. The usual great fun. My 43 min time did not get recorded though. A tip for runners using the d tag type chips, Make sure you don't get a crease in the middle of the D. When I taped my shoes on mine got creased and did not work.

Steve and Kirk,

Congratulations on your finish. Sounds like it was a tough race. I'm proud of both you for enduring through it and not quitting. Looking forward to seeing you guys on Saturday's runs. I'll just be careful not to run in front. There is a tall tale out there to proceed with caution because you may wind up with a bruised knee. Catch up with you guys later.
