Practice Update for 1/18/06

Harriers,
Jeff started a new job and is unable to coach us on the indoor track.
Rich will try to talk to the school and see if we can get it but it won't be until next week at the earliest. We'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, we will be at the Human Race tomorrow. The run starts at 6:15.

Practice Update and the Disney Marathon

Practice on Wednesday Jan 11th is at 6:15 starting from the Human race.
Practice on Saturday Jan 14th will be at Little Red School House - the trails are in pretty good shape.

Jeff is coaching on the Thornwood Indoor Track! - Starting Jan 18th.
I will have indoor track workouts on Wednesday nights beginning January 18th, 2006 and ending February 22nd, 2006. Indoor workouts are at Thornwod High School in South Holland. From Orland Park, the drive is about 25-30 minutes. Time to be announced......

These workouts in the past were always fun, successful, and generally everyone stayed injury free. I think our biggest attendance was 40 runners in 2003. The workouts are moderately aggressive short/medium repetition workouts, followed by leg drills. We avoid injuries by switching directions throughout the workouts, and adding a thorough stretching routine after the warmup.

There is nothing like running once a week in in shorts and a shirt when the temps outside are 10-15 degrees. Fitness improves during these workouts also!

John Spannuth Disney Race Update

The race weekend was cold for FL standards especially on SAT for the 1/2 below freezing at the start with strong winds.

Jim Raymond did well running a superb 3:24 good enough for 4th in his age and 281st out of 10,200, this after running the 1/2 while cruising 24 hours prior in 1:34 good for 7th in his age and top 200 finish. What motivates this man? It is all about the Bling Baby! Jim had enough gold to look like he was wearing a MR. T starter kit! Count them 3 Gold medals draping this dudes neck, plus 1 in the mail for his top 5 age group in the marathon. Man this guy well need to do some neck rolls to keep his head straight.

I ran well setting a recent PR with a 3:11:11, if I could have controlled my bowels minus 2 pit stops watch time 3:08! Good enough for 119th, however only 21st in my age, and man I thought maybe top 5 in the Military Division, your tax dollars are being well spent people. 3:11 was only good enough for 11th in the military. See this war is good for something, get fit or die in combat baby!
