Practice Info: Read carefully + Run like an animal

Saturday October 27th - Meet at Little Red schoolhouse at 8:30.

Tuesday October 30th - Meet at Tinley Park High School Track and be warmed up and ready to run at 6:35. That's right TUESDAY. Since we are skulls - in honor of our favorite holiday - All Hallows Eve -we are moving the practice. Also so Jim Raymond and Austin can get in some trick or treating.

Our goal for the next few weeks will be to get people ready for any upcoming races(turkey trots etc.) - the workouts will be intense and quick to tap out the last bit of speed we can before we slow things down for the winter. On days you run on your own throw in a few strides.

Team race - It seems that the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is sacred to many people from pies and brown hooded sweatshirts to cross country type courses so we will not mess with tradition and try to run together as a team. Everyone can do their own thing.

Instead we will try to get together on Sunday Nov 11th for either the 355 inaugural race (which we are investigating) or the Tinley Park Turkey Trot a perennial favorite. More details will follow. Feel free to voice your opinion on either race.

On the 11/11/07 race at 355. This is the 1st and last time that this race will be held. It will be on the 355 tollway extension. I'm guessing that it will start at the 127th st access and go north across the Des Plaines River and come back. This is up high and open with some gentle hills up and down. All concrete. There is also a bike ride that starts at 9 am and goes until 1pm or somewhere around there. I work in Wheeling and my biker friend is planning on going with some of his friends. They're 60 miles away. The bike limit is 5,000. It could get there. The race starts at 11:30am. There is limited parking and shuttles will be used. The bikers of course will bike to the event but there is a lot more going on with the local communities setting up displays, booths promoting stuff, politicians taking credit, opening ceremonies, a fly over, and what ever. So, you have the bikers getting there first to ride until the end, the general public shuttling in for free stuff and to just be there, and then the runners coming last. The weather might be bad so check out whether there is a shelter set up and gear check on site. First and only time this will be held. Unique opportunity. I like it. PR course........no. Accuratly measured course.........no. Gear check.......? Shelter.........?(no). Because of the logistics and it being a first and only time event, don't expect things to go right. It won't be fixed the second time around. I still think that this is a unique event, but I would pay the extra $5 to register on race day and be able to bail out. I'm probably going to do the bike with my wife and then if it looks good, do the run with her being my gear check person. Plan ahead and ask the sponsers what their intentions are. Do not do this race for a PR.

I was going to leave some info on the I-355 race, but it seems the comment/post above this pretty much covers it. Personally I think it will be a great experience, and I can guarantee you'll never have a chance to do this race again. I really like the 11:30 race time. Don't be afraid Bears fans, the game is at 3:00 this day. Here's the link, I hope we have a decent turn out.
